Gloria Flew Away 

Michelle C Bentham's tale of an escapee budgie called Gloria and the creatures she encounters as she tries to survive the outside world.

Michelle contacted with the view to me illustrating a children's story she had written involving different birds and animals. On reading the text I was immediately taken by its strong characters, situations and of its classic learning through experience sub text.

Immediately, I felt I wanted to depict the wildlife as naturally as possible and let Michelle's dialogue give the expression. I chose gouache as a painting medium, scanned into the computer with minimal tweaking in Photoshop.
